The Inflammation Theory of Health relates to the body producing substances that can lead to the deterioration of major organs and systems in the body. When we are younger, inflammation generally has a restorative effect and aids the body in physical recovery. Unfortunately, as we age (even in the twenties), we begin to produce inflammation that is excessive; partly due to the body becoming less effective at controlling its production. The end result is that inflammation can flow unchecked within the body, undermining the very physical systems it previously protected.
Inflammation can be caused by a number of factors, such as infection, physical injury, or merely by age itself. It now also appears that a major cause of inflammation is due to stress and anxiety. Unfortunately, less and less stress is required to create this flood of inflammation in the body. Perhaps what is most concerning, is that inflammation is now being implicated as a major factor or contributing factor to illnesses such as certain types of cancer (prostrate, colon, breast, and ovarian), heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and arthritis. Remember, that the Let Down Effect is also affected by inflammation, as are migraines, panic attacks, stomach problems (such as Irritable Bowel or Spastic Colon) and many more conditions.
As you can see, our ability to control inflammation within our bodies can have an enormous effect on slowing the aging process. The good news is that there are techniques and tools that people can learn that are easy and quick that can significantly lower the inflammation response in the body. Hypnosis and Mind Body Medicine are particularly well suited for dealing with inflammation since they address both the physical and psychological roots of inflammation. Since these tools require only minutes a day, it is easy for people to assimilate them into their busy schedules. So it is possible to slow the aging process, while at the same time affecting such conditions as headaches, arthritis, sleep disorders, stress, panic attacks, and of course, the Let Down Effect.
